Humans are born to socialize and share community. It is in our DNA. But sometimes this urge to share can lead us down a negative path to gossip.

The idea of honouring the absent is an important one to remind ourselves of often.
It has never been easier to include people in a meeting or a conversation. We have all the tools for in person and virtual interactions.

Let’s all avoid the temptation to talk about someone if they are not present. Let’s all think about this and give ourselves a little kick in the behind if we find ourselves going down the gossip path. Let’s hold each other accountable for inclusive, constructive, and respectful dialogue.

Always treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Easier said than done, but if we keep the idea of honouring the absent in our collective consciousness we will all be better for it.
