This Pride Month, we're celebrating those who never stopped – Canadians who fought for equality, visibility, and a better country for all. We're recognizing three 2SLGBTQIA+ trailblazers whose courage helped shape Canada and inspire what's next.
Today, we're highlighting Mark Tewksbury – a Canadian Olympic champion who used his platform to break barriers both in and out of the pool.
A gold medalist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, he came out publicly in 1998 at a time when openly gay athletes were nearly invisible in professional and amateur sport. He became one of Canada's most prominent 2SLGBTQIA+ sports advocates, using his voice to challenge stereotypes and push for inclusion across athletic communities in Canada and around the world.
His visibility helped open doors for 2SLGBTQIA+ athletes everywhere – and serves as a reminder that representation in sport, and in every industry, is still worth fighting for.
At Cooper Equipment Rentals, we believe the job site should be a place where everyone belongs. This Pride Month and every month, we're committed to building a more inclusive industry.

🚨 Trench Safety Stand Down Week – Day 5🚨
Today’s focus: Locating Buried Facilities
Before any excavation begins, it’s essential to identify and clearly mark the location of buried utilities. This isn’t just good practice – it’s required to help prevent costly and dangerous strikes.
Mechanical excavation near these areas must wait until the buried facility is safely exposed by hand or other approved non-destructive methods.

🚨 Trench Safety Stand Down Week – Day 3 🚨
Today’s focus: Safe Entry & Exit in excavations.
In this video, we’re sharing why it’s critical for every trench to have a safe way in and out – whether it’s a ladder, scaffold, or mechanical device. If a trench is over 1.5 metres deep, access points must be within 8 metres of every worker. No exceptions.
Protecting our crews starts with how they enter – and exit – the jobsite.
Follow along as we share more trench safety insights throughout the week.
