2023 Winter Clothing Drive powered by Cooper Equipment Rentals

The Winter Clothing Drive powered by Cooper Equipment Rentals is one of the most successful charitable events in the Greater City of Sudbury. The winter clothing drive is a Cooper Cares initiative that was developed to collect and redistribute gently used winter clothing items within the Sudbury community.

Sudbury’s winter clothing drive underway; need is as great as ever 

Hats, boots, sweaters and gloves are the primary targets for collection and redistribution

Derek Cashmore says the objective is simple: “There is no goal mind but keeping people warm this winter.”  

Cashmore was speaking as part of the key organizing team of Sudbury’s annual Winter Clothing Drive.  

His colleague at Cooper Equipment Rentals Ltd., Brett Moroso, director of operations, agrees.  

“We will partner with Keeping Seniors Warm and all others who express interest,” Moroso said. “In every community, we do something. Cooper has 72 locations coast to coast. Some Cooper locations have replicated our program.”  

This is year nine for the drive. There are posters throughout Sudbury.  

Moroso recalled how it began: “It started off as an employee drive when Cooper was SMS. Derek took it to a whole new level. He said, ‘We can do better, let’s reach out to our friends and families.’ First we were doing it quietly, and then Derek proposed we go community-wide.” [Continue reading]

Rainbow schools participate in Winter Clothing Drive

Rainbow District School Board students and staff are once again helping to make the coldest season a little warmer by participating in the Winter Clothing Drive powered by Cooper Equipment Rentals.

Community members are invited to look for the Cooper truck at any of Greater Sudbury’s four Canadian Tire locations — New Sudbury, South End, Hanmer and Chelmsford — to drop off cleaned and bagged coats, scarves, mitts and hats from 10 am to 3 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 21.

Clothing is to be redistributed to community members in need at the Southridge Mall, 1933 Regent St. in Sudbury, from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. [Continue Reading]
