Sudbury Clothing Drive: Warming Hearts Since 2014

Each year, the Sudbury Clothing Drive stands out as one of the most successful charitable events in the Greater City of Sudbury. This winter clothing drive, developed to bring warmth to the Sudbury community, has seen remarkable success, collecting over 125,000 winter clothing items.

Cooper’s Ongoing Commitment

The Cooper Sudbury team, in partnership with Our Children Our Future and local community partners, has been instrumental in organizing this initiative. In 2019, they established 110 clothing drop-off sites, alongside the public drop-off at the Cooper Sudbury branch. With these efforts, they managed to fill 4 shipping containers with clothing donations, supported by organizations such as Sudbury Catholic Schools, municipal libraries, the local OHL team, a national basketball team, the local college and university, Rainbow District School Board, Vale & Glencore, Hydro One, and Brady Storage.

Adapting During the Pandemic

In 2020, due to the pandemic, the event had to pivot to a virtual format. Despite the challenges, the Sudbury team, with support from their partners, set up four partnering drop-off sites and introduced appointments to facilitate donations. Volunteers wore PPE while sorting donations, ensuring the safety of both themselves and the community. These efforts resulted in the collection of over 10,000 items, an outstanding success!

Making a Lasting Impact

The Sudbury Clothing Drive’s success each year highlights the commitment and dedication of the Cooper Sudbury team to the local community. This initiative has grown year after year, reflecting the determined effort to support those in need.
