Steps for Life
Most of us tend to take for granted that when we say goodbye to our loved ones as they leave for work, we will also welcome them home again at the end of the day. Sadly, this isn’t always the case. For some families, their loved one will not walk through the door ever again. Instead, they receive an unexpected phone call, or knock on the door, bringing tragic news.
Dealing with loss and grief is incredibly tough, especially when due to an unforeseen circumstance like a workplace injury or accident. Every working day, 3 families will receive the news that a loved one is not returning home from work that day. Everyone needs support through those challenging times, and it’s a painful reminder of the importance of safety while working in the field.
The Cooper team strongly believes in supporting our families and keeping people safe during their working hours so that they may return home safely to their families at the end of every workday. This is why we are a proud supporter of the Threads for Life charity and their annual flagship fundraiser, Steps for Life.

The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, is a national Canadian registered charity dedicated to supporting families along their journey of healing, after a workplace fatality, life-altering workplace injury or occupational disease.
Steps for Life is a national fundraiser to help those affected by workplace tragedy. Created in 2004, it raises funds to support Threads of Life programs and services. It also raises awareness about the importance of health and safety.

Steps for Life 2022 – Golden Equipment Campaign
In 2022, Cooper was proud to become a national sponsor of Threads of Life and their programs through additional fundraising with our 50th-anniversary golden equipment campaign. In addition to our annual participation in the Walk Your Way event, Cooper set out on a year long campaign to raise funds for both Steps for Life and Movember.
Funds were raised through the rental of ten specially marked pieces of gold equipment that have been added to Cooper’s fleet, including eight gold excavators, one gold trench shield and one gold 6-inch pump with a promise of donating 25% of the rental revenue generated from these golden equipment items throughout 2022 to this amazing organization!
Thanks to the assistance of our customers and rental professionals we have maintained high-utilization of this equipment throughout the year and raised over $50,000 for Steps for Life.
Steps for Life 2021 – Walk Your Way Event
In support of the League of Champions safety month in May, and to help raise awareness and funds for Threads of Life programs, the Cooper Team participated in the Steps for Life Walk Your Way event on May 16th, 2021. This was a virtual event where team members could participate by taking their families and pets on a 5km walk.
We set our fundraising goal for 2021 to raise $5,000 and we were able to surpass our goal, raising $6,490 in our first year participating in Steps for Life.
