Cooper Abbotsford Steps Up During BC Floods

In November 2021, the Sumas Prairie flats between Abbotsford and Chilliwack, British Columbia, was overcome by mass flooding. The flood was caused by several weeks of record-breaking rainfall, eventually causing rivers and streams to overflow into the mainland. As these homes were in the floodplain, no flood insurance was available to help cover the costs of the flood damage. This natural disaster called for people to step up and help one another out.

The water eventually rose to heights that forced residents to flee their homes; not knowing whether they would have a home to come back to post-flood. At the peak of the floods, some homes were completely submerged underwater and were only accessible by boat.

When the flood waters finally receded and the roads became accessible, the Cooper Abbotsford team stepped and provided their local community with equipment such as dehumidifiers and generators so that local residents could control the damage and get life back on track for their families.

We’re proud of our team in Abbotsford for stepping up and helping their local community in time of need, and for doing their part to help spread the #CooperDifference from coast to coast.
