Small Engine Mechanic
Burlington, Ontario

Operating since 1972, Cooper Equipment Rentals, is a full-service construction equipment rental company. We specialize in the rental of compact, aerial and heavy construction equipment for the contracting community. We are looking for a Small Engine Mechanic to join our team immediately. Our head office is located at 103-255 Longside Drive, Mississauga, ON L5W 0G7 and the primary location of work is located at 5315 North Service Road, Burlington, ON, L7L 6C1.

This is a permanent, full-time position (approximately 40 to 45 hours per week) with a salary range of between $22 – $25/hour along with potential discretionary yearly salary increases. Our company offers overtime pay of 1.5x salary after 44 hours per week. The language of work for this position is English.

The main responsibilities for this position include:

  • Reviewing performance of, identifying maintenance required, and servicing equipment with small engines including: 12, 14 and 16” Quick Cut Saws; Pressure Washers; 24, 36 and 48” Power Trowels; Demo Hammers; Rotary Hammers; Road Breakers; Chainsaws; Aerators; Stump Grinders; Tillers; Concrete Grinders; Deck Sanders; and similar equipment;
  • Reviewing records describing what kind of repair was previously completed;
  • Verifying recently repaired small machinery is performing properly as per the manufacturer’s specifications, and identifying persistent malfunctions by using various testing methods and equipment;
  • Assessing equipment and performing preventative maintenance on small machinery;
  • Adjusting equipment and if needed, replacing or repairing parts;
  • Documenting all findings, service and repair information; and
  • Cleaning and lubricating small engines.

You must have the following qualifications:

  • Experience servicing or testing small machinery with small engines, including a majority of: 24, 36 and 48” Power Trowels; Demo Hammers; Rotary Hammers; Road Breakers; Chainsaws; Aerators; Stump Grinders; Tillers; Concrete Grinders; Deck Sanders; and similar equipment;
  • Experience as a mechanic of diesel equipment preferred;
  • Valid driver’s license; and
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends when needed.
