As you may have heard, this year Cooper is celebrating 50 years in business. On June 15th we held an open house at all 55 branches across Canada. Our goal was to spend some quality time with our team, our families, our community partners and customers, breaking bread together and having some fun.
Here are a few highlights from this special day.
Cooper was founded in 1972 by Gord Cooper in Markham, Ontario. Gord retired in 2003 and his son, Darryl Cooper, took over running the business operations. In 2010 Doug Dougherty joined Cooper Equipment Rentals to partner with Darryl Cooper. Since then, the dynamic duo have worked hard to grow Cooper’s operations from 4 branches to 55 branches, in 6 provinces across Canada! Cooper has also expanded to provide speciality equipment rental solutions with our Cooper Trench Safety and Cooper Pump Solutions divisions.
For Cooper’s 50th anniversary year we decided to give back to the causes that we care about. Working with our vendor partners, Oaken Equipment and Brandt we painted 4 new Bobcat E50s and 4 John Deere 50Gs gold. We also painted a BBA pump gold and a 24’ trench shield – which was a lot more challenging that you’d think!
The goal of the gold equipment campaign is to raise money for two foundations that are close to our hearts, Threads of Life and Movember. We set our fundraising goal for 2022 at $100,000 – stay tuned on our progress!
