Our goal is to provide as many development opportunities as possible for our team members, knowing that learning happens not just in a classroom or taking an online course, but through experiences, coaching and on the job training.

With more than 55 branches across Canada, we offer multiple career paths, customized and robust training programs and a culture that fosters growth and development to keep our team members inspired and engaged.

Listed below are just some of the initiatives Cooper employs to retain its talented team.

Recognizing Excellence

Our award and recognition programs provide a way for us to applaud team members who go above and beyond in contributing to Cooper’s success and who reinforce our values daily. In addition to informal, day-to-day recognition including mentions in our internal newsletter and posts on our social media channels, we have annual awards that recognize outstanding performance at the regional levels in areas such as safety, customer service, quality, human capital, and continuous improvement.

Cooper recognizes our team members’ commitment by offering Long Term Service Awards to those who have achieved a special employee milestone of 5, 10, 15, 35 years and even 40 years of service working for Cooper!

Cooper’s Q4 Sterling Driver Program, honours and rewards our drivers who have been incident-free for all four quarters with a financial bonus. In 2021 we had our first set of Q8 qualified drivers who had been incident free for 24 months!

Potential Career Paths and Career Planning

Cooper proudly offers boundaryless career opportunities. We take pride in helping employees become successful in their roles and support their career growth at Cooper.

As Canada’s leading construction equipment rental company, with more than 55 branches across Canada, and continuing growth plans, Cooper offers multiple career path opportunities, ranging from Yard and Equipment Coordinators, Operational Support, Mechanics, Sales, Marketing, Fleet Management and Service, and Health and Safety to name a few!

For example, by starting your journey at Cooper in a Yard Coordinator role, you will have the opportunity to gain a strong knowledge base on a wide array of construction equipment while learning the ins and outs of the rental equipment industry. This provides you with a great foundation and sets you up for opportunities in other roles such as becoming a driver, moving into a customer facing role as a rental coordinator or entry into sales, or you could move into training as a mechanic. These roles can lead to supervisory and leadership roles as your career develops at Cooper.

Mentorship Programs

In 2022 as part of Cooper’s commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, we will be launching a mentorship program for women at Cooper.

Traditionally, the construction and rental equipment industry have been predominantly a male environment. In our mission to attract, retain and develop more women at Cooper this mentorship program will provide development opportunities for career progression within Cooper.
