How taking a Step can make all the difference

On May 16th Cooper took part in our 1st annual Steps for Life walk fundraiser. If you are not familiar with this fundraiser, it’s run by a national Canadian charity named Threads of Life whose mission is to provide support programs and service to families and individuals affected by workplace injury and tragedy.

Statistics show that in an average working day in Canada:

  • Three Canadian workers will be killed or die as a result of occupational disease
  • Hundreds will be seriously injured or made ill because of work
  • Thousands of families, communities and workplaces will be affected.

Safety is a core value at Cooper and we want all employees and customers to make it home safely each and every day. Which is why this year during Safety Month, the Cooper team across Canada came together on May 16th and participated in the Steps for Life walk to raise funds and awareness for the Threads of Life organization.

Due to covid restrictions we couldn’t participate in a walk together in the various cities and towns across Canada, so we asked our team members to post pictures of themselves walking 5km with their family or furry friends on social media, so that we could stay connected virtually.

We originally set a goal to raise $5,000 however we were thrilled that our team was able to beat this by raising a total of $6,490 for the Threads of Life organization. We are very proud of our 1st year’s achievement and hope to build upon that next year!
